Three Years Off Gymnastics Comeback Story
Post date October 22, 2016
I stopped gymnastics about three years ago due to a stress fracture in my back. It was a sad decision to have to make. However, I decided to start playing tennis while my back was healing. So, I played tennis for two years but got a couple of injuries along the way. I also did some track and field as well. For those two years of no gymnastics, I felt that part of me was missing. When I went to Guatemala in June, I had a lot of time to think about what I wanted to do with my life. After I got back from Guatemala, I made my decision to go back to gymnastics, even though I knew it was going to be a crazy ride to get back my skills. Throughout my journey, there has been frustration, crying, and sacrificing. I even made the hard decision to stay behind and work out when my parents went to Europe to see family there. I just want to thank my teammates, my coach, and my parents for helping me through the rough patches so far – and those yet to come! I am getting surgery in November for my knee, but that is not going to stop me! My goal is competing this year!
